The nominations for the biggest night of the year – the Oscars are out! And there are not too many surprises.
The dark comic drama, Joker led the pack of nominations for the 92nd Academy Awards with a total of 11. It was nominated for most leading categories including best picture, best director, and best actor.
However, three other movies – 1917, Once upon a time in Hollywood, and The Irishman were close behind with 10 nominations each.
Unfortunately, despite all the talk of diversity, women were not included in the best director category. But, women comprised a record 62 nominations, about one-third of all the nominations.
Scarlett Johansson scored a rare double nomination for the best actress and the best supporting actress for roles in Marriage Story and JoJo Rabbit respectively.
The Academy Awards will be held on 9th February at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, and for a second time, will be without a host.
