Plastic today has, unfortunately, become omnipresent. As per a recent survey, the production of plastic has reached 396 million metric tons, which is approximately equal to 70 kilograms of plastic per person. The production of plastic is greatly increasing and our nature is drowning in plastics and plastic wastes. Plastic takes years to decompose and, so, plastics are entering the food we eat and the air we breathe.
A realization to save Mother Nature is leading to the invention of various alternatives to plastic. L’embeillage is one such material that is eco-friendly, natural and organic.
It can replace food packaging items such as plastic bags and films, helping in promoting zero-waste movement. L’embeillage is made from the beehive, cotton, pine resin, organic hemp oil and beeswax from the Normandy. Further, it is a biodegradable and non-toxic packaging that can be reused for one year. One of the ingredients, beeswax makes the material waterproof and rich with antibacterial properties. Along with food preservation values, the packaging also comes in funky designs.
Quentin, a 24-year-old resident in France, came up with the innovative idea of organic zero-waste food packaging. During his trip to Australia, he saw his family using beeswax wraps for food packaging. After getting back to France, he developed his own recipe of a beeswax wrap from organic ingredients.
