Google celebrated the 70th Republic Day of India by posting a beautiful and colourful doodle. It has the Rashtrapati Bhavan, the official home of the President of India, in the background with its sprawling flora and fauna. The alphabets in the word GOOGLE are depicted as six resplendent tableaus that are the core of the Republic Day celebrations in India. The iconic Qutub Minar, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most iconic monuments in India, is also seen in the doodle.
Every year on Republic Day a ceremonious parade is held in the national capital of New Delhi. The tableaus are an integral part of the parade and they demonstrate the beautiful and rich heritage, legacy, and culture of the various states of India. The parade also showcases India’s defence capabilities, with regiments of Indian Army, Navy, and Airforce participating in the event.

The Republic Day in India is celebrated on 26th January each year to honour the date on which the Indian Constitution came into effect. The Constitution is the governing document of the Republic of India and came into effect in the year 1950.
Every year, a Chief Guest is invited to witness the celebrations. The Chief Guest for this year is the President of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa.
